Restoration of antique furniture can include cabinet making & traditional hand French polishing. All restoration is sympathetically and skilfully carried out using the correct methods & materials for the period. Preservation of original surfaces is always a priority but should refininishing ever be nessesary perhaps due to previous bad restoration this will be done by traditional hand techniques using the finest shellac and hand made wax polishes.

The workshop carries large stocks of period timber & veneer as well as extensive collections of original brassware so restoration will be as authentic as possible.Desktop Leather table linings can also be replaced in your colour & tooling of choice.

As an antique furniture restorer it is always important to try to preserve originality where possible. Though if may be quicker & easier to remake a broken leg on a card table or decayed seat rails on an 18th C Gainsborough armchair it is always best to preserve the history & integrity of a piece to save the damaged sections as I’m always of the opinion that something can only be kept original once. Severely decayed wood can often be save by injecting with glue size or even more modern methods with consolation fluids before any necessary patching with matching woods. People often make comments that proper restoration can be expensive but is merely that to do things properly can take time.
