Description

The highly figured rectangular tops decorated with beautifully figured amboyna veneers with an ebony and boxwood inlaid border. The top with applied ebony mouldings and ebony strung edging.
The slender & very elegant bases are constructed from Padouk.
Amboyna wood was imported from the East Indies, in particular the island of Ceram.
From there it’s richly figured burrs were shipped to Europe via Singapore, a concentration point for rare East Indian timbers.
Amboyna is exceedingly beautiful and highly ornamental wood.
