Description

A very fine and unusual snuff box in the form of a small book probably an apprentice piece.
The box is constructed from solid satinwood and inlaid with various exotic woods.
Both sides inlaid with a six pointed boxwood star surounded with tulipwood and ebony.
One side is crossbanded with partridge wood the other tulipwood.
All edged with ebony stringing.
The solid Birdseye maple spine is fixed into position with tapered sliding dovetails.
With the spine removed the sliding section can be removed to reveal a partially zink lined interior
Size. 3 5/8 inches wide. 2 1/2 inches deep. 7/8 inches deep
