Description
This fine Regency rosewood & brass mounted writing table attributed to Gillows of Lancaster.The aged black leather lined top with gilt Greek key tooling within a narrow rosewood cross grained border.
The breakfront form with twin lifting lidded & locking compartments at either end. Wonderful purpose made hinges and shaped curved locks.
With twin drawers to one side & dummy’s to the rear.
Wonderful shaped escutcheons as used on many of Gillows finest made pieces of the period. Decorated with wonderful beaded brass mouldings. Retaining period brass knobs.
Finely turned legs with original brass castors.
Lovely quality, colour & condition.
Drawer locks & 1 end compartment with working key.
