Description

A superb matched pair of Gillows work tables.
One table constructed from the finest quality mahogany & solid rosewood and veneered in highly figured decorative rosewood veneers. This table bears the pencil inscription of J Taylor.
TAYLOR, JOHN (1) is listed in the 1834-39 PL, P.274 (344/79).
He may have been the same Taylor who made a mahogany bookcase in June 1847 ( with Herbert) for Murray Esq, a customer of Ferguson & Co. ( 344/104, p.55-6, 15.6.1847; p.5554, 1.12.1948.
TAYLOR, JOHN (2) was apprenticed to William WHITEHEAD cabinet maker & upholsterer in 1847
The upper section with a discreet drawer at either end & a pull out sliding tray to fit a sewing box/ bag. ( this can be redone if required)
The top with a carved solid rosewood waved & scroll carved gallery.
The table supported on twin turned columns and supported on Chippendale style cabriole legs with concealed brass castors.
I have been established as a dealer and antique furniture restorer for almost 20 years.
I have a real love and passion of fine 18th and early 19th century furniture.
